Overview
This policy describes what HoldCam collects when hosts create events and guests shoot photos. HoldCam does not offer guest accounts.
Information we collect
Hosts: email address for magic-link sign-in and event management; event settings you choose (name, develop time, tier).
Guests: photos and optional display name if the host asks for one; basic device and browser data needed to upload frames and show the viewfinder.
When enabled via environment configuration, we use Sentry for error reporting and PostHog for product analytics on host flows and the marketing site — not in the camera viewfinder before live preview.
Camera and permissions
The guest camera asks for camera access only after the guest taps to shoot — not on page load. Photos upload when the device is online; offline capture is queued locally until upload is possible.
How we use information
We use host email to authenticate and notify you about your events. We store photos to deliver the roll and gallery experience. Telemetry, when enabled, helps us fix errors and understand host conversion — it does not include photo bytes.
Photo retention
Gallery retention depends on your tier:
Free 30 days · Party 1 year · Wedding Forever
After the retention period for your tier, we may delete gallery photos and related metadata. Wedding-tier galleries labeled forever are kept for the life of the service, subject to lawful requests and these terms.
Sharing and security
Event links are shareable by the host; anyone with the link may view or shoot according to event settings. We use industry-standard providers for hosting and payments; we do not sell personal information.
Your choices
Hosts can contact us to request deletion of an event and associated photos, subject to legal and billing records we must keep.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
